The Council of Europe and the Government of Ireland, acting through the Venice Commission have generously provided a grant towards SAFLII's Supreme Court of Appeal of South Africa Scanning Project. This project aims to scan, proofread and upload Supreme Court of Appeal decisions for South Africa dating from 1910. In the first phase of this project, 83000 pages - roughly 3000 decisions - dating from 1983 have been scanned. Once proofreading is completed, the decisions will be uploaded to this website.

The Ford Foundation, the Carnegie Corporation and the Open Society Foundation for South Africa have supported SAFLII since it's inception in late 2006 in its aims of:

• Gathering legal information
• Preparing the information for easy retrieval
• Providing the information free of charge and restrictions to anyone with internet access
